Fabulous weekend away...

We were greeted with homemade meringues & coffee at the Gourmet Retreat where we stayed overnight for a friend's amazing birthday celebration...

The gorgeous Gourmet Retreat had an 'Aspen' ski lodge feel to it, beautiful views of the vineyards, open fires & comfy lounges...

For the drive, I wore my Chloe jewelled stripe top I've had for a few years, a pair of David Lawrence
navy wool man-style pants & Dries Van Noten patent wedges...

After a few amazing cocktails (made with homemade Lemon Curd) - we went to our rooms to get dressed for dinner. I wore my Rick Owens silk dress & beaded Dries Van Noten sandals.

i.e. the same outfit HERE (tried to poladroid it, but it cropped the shoes off!)

13 bottles of French Champagne (mostly vintage) + 1 magnum bottle of champagne + 1 Salmanazar bottle of a our friends' Flagship Shiraz (i.e. 9000ml or the equivalent of 12 standard bottles of wine!) + numerous Lemon & Basil cocktails (yum!) + 20 friends = fun! (not so fun the next morning)

Delicious 9-course degustation by chef Hogg...

Surprise
! What was a milestone birthday celebration turned into a wedding celebration, when our friends tearfully announced they had secretly gotten married the day before! There was squealing, tears, cheers & feet stomping (uhm, that was me).

The beautiful view certainly helped us nurse our hangover on the next morning, when we ate breakfast in the amazing retreat's kitchen

Vegemite = an 'Aussie' cultural icon, also a spread I just cannot eat

It was truly a perfect & amazing weekend...

  12. It sounded amazing (:

And i’m quite conflicted about it – I know I would love to go into fashion, but right now I’m thinking about journalism, business communications, international relations/law, the likes. But law is always on the back of my mind – I’m in a Law & Public Services academic program at my high school (which is, as the name suggests all about law: business law, criminal/constitutional/civil law, politics, governmetn) and interning for my local courthouse. Gahh I don’t know… hhaha (:

  16. Dang! What a swanky party! I wanna have a birthday at a gourmet retreat!

Yes, the fruit sushi recipe turned out really well, you so should try it!

I notice that you live in Australia! I am an Aussie, but like you, have moved to another country to call my home. I have been living in the US for 7 years. First to Los Angeles, and now I have been living in Houston for 8 months and love it.

  40. Hi there,

I am a Voguette who has been reading your blog for a while now, and just had to say that you have such amazing style.

Also, how does one take such "vintage" these vintage looking photos? Can you do that with an ordinary DSLR?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi missm - I used a program called poladroid, that you can download from www.poladroid.net, so it's the actual programme, not the pictures that look vintage :) It does crop some of your photo out though...Alternatively you can hire/buy a Polaroid camera (my cousin did that for her wedding in addition to her professional ones, LOVED the photos! The expense lies in the developing of the film rather than the camera/film itself...)
    HTH! :)
    xx
