With this dress I thee wed...

In less than a year, I gain a new sister-in-law, but she has yet to start looking at/for wedding dresses, I offered to scout some on her behalf...

Her likes: one-shouldered simple gowns, vintage dresses
Her dislikes: strapless gowns & the full-skirt meringue/very 'bridal' look.

As a fan of Marchesa, I think these would be the ones she would most like (especially the 2nd dress, that's the one I'm most excited about for her, and can't wait for her to see):

I found some other gorgeous options:

Elie Saab CTR Fall 2010
A little extravagant, but so stunning:

Lanvin Resort 2010

I realized this is the dress my friend wore to her non-wedding wedding celebration (they insist it was really her now-husband's milestone birthday, but there was a wedding cake...)

  5. I'm not a traditional wedding dress gal either, so it is refreshing to see so many stylish options. My faves are the second and last Marchesa gowns. They're so graceful and light. The belt on that first Marchesa dress makes me swoon.

  8. The 3rd Marchesca has all the Grecian feel I envision in my dream wedding dress...just a bit too much glitz to it for me.

  11. the second and third marchesa dresses are fantastic. love them to bits. haha I am similar with the looking. I look at wedding dresses all the time, even though I'm not engaged, haha. I love them... it is such a fairytale thing... I agree with her, I hate strapless dresses as well! spending the night yanking up your dress is not the most glamorous thing... nor is excessive cleavage. theres a time and a place - your wedding isn't it! haha.

beautiful picks, you will have to keep us updated on her choice :)

  13. These Marchesa gowns are all so beautiful; would name #2 my fav. Also Collette Dinnigan has some fairytale gowns in her collection.
Lanvin is, as you already stated "playful", so fun to see but to wear for your wedding... maybe more a "no" ;)

    Happy relaxing sunday to you!

  17. I really wish I could get married again, so I could "do over" my dated poufy cupcake dress from nearly 5 years ago. :) I love looking at dresses. So thanks for posting these!

  19. I love so much this dresses. I am sure that all girls would dream about wedding in such one!! To my part, I would be unable to make a choice anong them. I maybe have a little preference for the first one, but in an other hand some of the others are a little bit more originals... Fortunately, I do not have to make such a choice at the moment, but I would nearly be ready to marry just to wear a dress like these ones!! 26. The Elie Saabe lineup is sooo gorgeous. In particular, I love the 6th dress - it reminds of the Prohibition era of the 1920s in America. You have great taste and she's lucky to have you scouting out options for her!

  31. The selection of wedding dresses is daunting isn't it? My sister is getting married in November. She went with a very practical J. Crew dress.

  32. Hi Brigadeiro,
How are you doing? I'm looking for a wedding dress for myself. I'm thinking vintage. Although those Elie Saab gowns are beautiful but I don't think I can afford one :)
Hope you have a beautiful day and good luck helping your future sister in law finding a wedding gown :)

  34. Definitly love the last one as well as a few elie saab ones.. oh so hard to choose! Recently I've been becoming addicted to looking at wedding dresses despite my young age, they're just so pretty! I love watching say yes to the dress (tv show about consultants and clients at a wedding dress store).
