Lil J (aka Brigadeirozinha) by Urban Safari

The Photodiarist said...
(...) When can we see more of Lil J? She must be so well dressed!
Well, not particularly well-dressed (although I absolutely adore this hoodie I bought from Gap in Kyoto), but here are some recent pics of Lil J (just for you, TP!).

One fabulously brilliant baby shower gift I forgot to mention in my previous post about my favourite baby things, is a photographic session for the little one.

My gorgeous, lovely and talented friend Kate (blogger, photographer, graphic designer, and more), of Urban Safari, gave me just that for my baby shower. Kate's photos are relaxed and 'real', beautifully capturing not just little ones, but also weddings, travel memories, food and other moments:

Ah vous dirai-je, Maman - Sasha Pivovarova for Vogue Paris November 2010

Although Lil J is only 6, soon to be 7 months old, she seems to be growing up so quickly...Sasha Pivovarova's November 2010 Vogue Paris 'mom & daugher' editorial made me all kinds of warm and fuzzy inside. The title refers to the piece I like playing on the piano to Lil J (aka the 'Twinkle twinkle little star" variations by Mozart):

David Szeto Spring/Summer 2011: Liberté - Pt 3

David Szeto

Spring Summer 2011

Collection: Liberté

Brilliant Tailoring

Large silver zippers are used as a main part of the design in this dress. This dress is almost a banana peel, if you unzipped all the zippers you'd be exposed. Zipped, this dress is a simple shift. The leather collars around the edge can be thought of as petals….How brilliant!

How beautiful is that curved & ruched hem?

I love the draped lapels that disappear into the side pockets of this dress...

The neck detail on this is subtle yet effective...

David Szeto Spring/Summer 2011: Liberté - Pt 2

David Szeto

Draped Dresses

This is my favourite dress of this collection, a classic David Szeto design (I recently bought a similar Szeto dress in a beautiful bottle green) beautifully reinvented. The ruched gathers at the shoulder can be folded inwards towards the sleeve for a shoulder pad effect or outwards to add a cascade of ruffles a the neckline. I particularly love the bold graphic 'middle' contrasting the rest of the dress so beautifully and pulled together with a tan leather belt. The red & purple colour combination in particular...so vibrant & fresh!

So simple and beautiful...

Twisted shoulder straps and hand tucked pleats...

Different fabric makes this dress so different from the same design in the silver lame above. I am partial to this one more due to the beautiful bold graphic in the middle once again.

David Szeto describes this dress as one of the most complex dresses he's made; Draped side hip "ruched flower" sleeveless dress, the flower is draped into the pattern and ruched by hand. This is another dress he labels as having a great cut for curves - brilliant!

David Szeto Spring/Summer 2011: Liberté - Pt 1

David Szeto

Spring Summer 2011

Collection: Liberté

Beautifully Twisted

David Szeto's SS'11 collection comprises of classic easy pieces in navy, cream, beige, grey and black, reliable basics with his signature hand finished details, silks cut into simple and sometime complex pieces that Szeto has become known for. This time new details include detachable leather neck collars, cuffs and belts, giving a slight contrast and edge to the feminine silhouettes.

Pt 1 - Tessa Dress & Top

Love the double-zip detailing and adjustable tie detail at the shoulder. David Szeto says this dress best on slightly curvatious silhouettes. HIP HIP HOORAY!

I love it in this black & white striped version, although it looks gorgeous in a solid colour as well.

Or in this gorgeous blue honeycomb knit - in a top version.

Ah, the stripes also come in the top version! Can I please have one of each?

Street Style at Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Weeks - Outside the Box

Sometimes, it's fun to step 'outside the box':

Anna Della Russo must be 'Queen' of 'Stepping Outside the Box', and seems to have a ball doing so each time...
